Possibility Cards

Last week I joined Cindy Jacobs's playshop, combining SoulCollage® Expressive Arts, and Intentional Creativity, to explore ways to support our Word of the Year. Cindy loves making and using little cards for inspiration and reminders, and I enjoyed her tips and tricks.

We created a SoulCollage® Visionary archetype or Neter card, and began a dozen Mixed media cards (3×4") - we will add to both decks each month over the year. (Neter is a word used by the Egyptians for cosmic beings and qualities)

Visionary Neter

For the little deck of Visionary qualities, I used stencils and Gel medium on Mixed media paper for texture, colored using neocolor 2 crayons, sealed with medium, and glued the sheets to junk mail Flyers, and painted the backs.

After cutting out a dozen cards, I painted the edges with metallic acrylic, and made a couple of bookmarks and smaller cards from the scraps.

There are so many ways to create cards!

Materials:

Watercolor or mixed media paper, thin cardboard (I use watercolor and mixed media paper from pads)
Watercolours or acrylic paint, acrylic ink, shimmer watercolors, Neocolor 2 crayons, Inktense pencils, calligraphy or micon pens, brushes
Scissors, edge trimmers
Items for collage, metalic paint, glue or medium
Parchment paper and micron pens or markers for lables

Set the intention for your cards, then paint your background - playful, happy colors! If using watercolor paper, spray and drip color into it for a wash.

If recycling thin cardboard (junk mail, magazine covers or tea boxes) you can use white paint or gesso to prepare the surface, then paint with acrylics.

Visionary Qualities

I used parchment paper and a micron pen to write qualities supporting my Visionary Neter, and medium as the fixitive and sealant.

Altered Board Book

One of the earliest projects in our Color of Woman teacher training was the invitation to create simple art journals, setting our intention, using simple supplies and an inexpensive composition book as the container. These journals, called Cosmic Smash Books by an earlier graduate, Catt Geller, became companions for many of us on our quest, holding notes, inspiration, and process pages. I made several that year, and many others since. We began and covered books in our last Red Thread Creatives circle, and this week, created a grounding, resting or process page. February Reset

I'm looking forward to the February Festival - Resetting the space of your Living Altar, which Katy from our Intentional Creativity community hosts! I'm also a bit nervous, as I've been invited on board to help facilitate the group this year!
