Commencement

Yesterday we graduated from our SoulCollage® facilitator training! WOOT! We were warmly welcomed into the net of over 6000 facilitators, in 64 countries!

The month of our training has gone by both quickly and slowly - what a enriching experience! I've met some lovely friends along the way, and am excited about the many ways to deepen and connect, built into the World of SoulCollage® Community.

Card Spiral and Sweetgrass

A few years after beginning to create cards in 2008, I joined the KaleidoSoul community (on Yahoo!). I joined again last summer, and added a couple of Anne Marie Bennett's SoulCollage®, books to my collection in the fall. I'm writing an article, to be included in the March issue of Soul Songs, and have marked several of her meditations as seeds for future classes.

Recently, I discovered local facilitator Leo Sheerin has moved to Vermont! I visited his gallery and studio on our local Art Harvest tour several years ago, and hoped to meet for tea after my graduation! Chatting with my friend Theresa last week, I was delighted hear she has also created a SoulCollage® deck, and took one of Leo's classes, whilst he was living here!

We plan a Playdate soon!!

One of the questions on our Application was - What do you hope to do as a SoulCollage® facilitator?

I've offered monthly creative circles since 2015, pivoting to meeting virtually twice monthly during lockdown in 2020. The SoulCollage® sessions my SiStars have offered to our circle have been well received. I'm scheduled to lead our next session on Loving Ourselves, February 12th.

My co-facilitator Cindy Jacobs offers several virtual classes each year, centered around personal growth using SoulCollage®. Susan Conrad Risse and my Color of Woman classmate Valerie Kravette have offered several SoulCollage® sessions for our virtual group, each brings her own flavor to their offerings. In excited for my offering!

Several local folks have mentioned interest in classes and circles - it's an easy access creative medium, appealing to folks with a range of skills and interests. Working with our cards offers gracious ways to explore our inner landscapes. The SoulCollage® community echos the interactive web of our inner and outer world.

My piano teacher, Marion Coe, reminded her students that to Commence is to Begin - I'm looking forward to beginning this next phase of my journey with SoulCollage®!

Word of the Year

For Several years, my friend Kathleen has offered a Word of the Year Playshop at our church in January. In 2023 my  word was Weave , and in 2024, Balance (Kauliki)  Kathleen generally offers a more linear approach - using Dictionaries and Thesauri, after a quick review and release of any 'baggage' from the year just past, and then we decorated an Arrow .... This year , she invited a friend who facilitates SoulCollage (tm) to join us, and we chose images! Both Kathleen and Deandra brought a bunch of images from magazines, cards and calendars, and laid them out on several tables,  for us to gather from.  Card size is general 5×7" or 5x8" and we could choose from several colours of mat board for our background . Other materials included an index card, glue sticks and scissors.  My workstation We did a quick year review and release, then choose images, and started to fine tune and arrange them. After we'd glued the images, we paired up, and one of the dyad a...

I've got a Plan!

Last April, after the start of our  Artist in Residence time , Shiloh Sophia and her own business coach Amy Ahlers offered a creativity based business class called Dancing Entrepreneur. While most gals were from our creative community, several other creatives joined us. Posts which really caught my eye were of  Karen Dawn 's Visual Planning system , and I joined her Beta Test group on crafting similar systems of our own! I love Karen's creative approach to planning! (Her  blog  includes some of these teachings! She also introduced me to Neurographica!) Vision Plan Board My visual planner is on a foam board left over from a vision board class, and holds my Medicine Basket, one of the Dancing Entrepreneur action cards, a couple of Neuro-Noodles plus - pockets. Who doesn't love these little pockets? The clothesline is a ribbon, and I simply taped the ends to the back of the board using painter's tape! You can use nails or eye hooks to tack the lines directly on a wall -...

Soul Compass Cards

One of my favorite Intentional Creativity®practices is creating cards!   Creating a set of Soulful Story Cards was the first Red Thread event I offered, and we often create several cards in a circle. I've written about several ways to use our cards, and there are so many ways to create them!  Materials:  Watercolor or mixed media paper, thin cardboard (I use watercolor and mixed media paper from pads)  Watercolours or acrylic paint, acrylic ink, shimmer watercolors, Neocolor 2 crayons, Inktense pencils, calligraphy or micon pens, brushes Scissors, edge trimmers Items for collage, gold paint, glue or medium Set your intention for your cards Paint your background - playful, happy colors! If using watercolor paper, spray and drip color into it for a wash. If recycling thin cardboard (chocolate sleeves or tea boxes)  use white paint or gesso to prepare your surface, then paint with acrylics. While your paint dries, write out the 'old stories' that hold yo...
